ARGUMENTA PHILOSOPHICA (ISSN: 2462-4993; ISSN revista electrónica: 2462-5906) es una revista internacional de carácter científico y de investigación filosófica que se publica semestralmente y se dirige a un público universitario.

Son temática primordial de la revista las disciplinas clásicas de la filosofía y su historia: metafísica, epistemología, lógica, ética, filosofía de la ciencia y de la mente, filosofía de la religión, estética o filosofía de la historia. Asimismo también acoge consideraciones teóricas sustanciales en relación a otras disciplinas humanísticas o relacionadas con ellas (psicología, sociología o antropología, por ejemplo). La revista contiene dos tipos de trabajos de autor: artículos y recensiones. Los artículos deben ser originales e inéditos y estar escritos en castellano o inglés. Las recensiones, por el contrario, solamente se publican en castellano. Los artículos no sobrepasarán las 7500 palabras (notas y bibliografía incluidas), mientras que la extensión máxima de las recensiones no sobrepasará las 1.800 palabras.

Las propuestas de artículos y recensiones deberán ser enviadas a la dirección electrónica de la Redacción de la revista (argphil@herdereditorial.com) en un fichero en formato Word. Se puede adjuntar, si se desea, el CV académico del autor.

Cada propuesta de artículo debe ir acompañada de un breve resumen del mismo y cinco palabras clave. Ambos estarán en castellano e inglés para los artículos en castellano, y solamente en inglés si el artículo está escrito en esta lengua. Los datos personales y académicos del autor deben presentarse al final del artículo. Deben constar nombre y apellidos, la institución de procedencia y una dirección electrónica vigente.

Los originales recibidos se someterán anónimamente al dictamen de dos especialistas externos designados por la Redacción, que también se reserva el derecho de publicación. Se comunicará razonadamente a los autores la eventual aceptación, petición de modificaciones o rechazo de sus trabajos en el plazo máximo de seis meses. 

Cada uno de los árbitros deberá evaluar la originalidad, el rigor académico y la metodología, bibliografía y estilo del artículo antes de proceder a recomendar o rechazar la publicación o solicitar modificaciones. Se les facilitará los árbitros un modelo de informe para que haga llegar sus valoraciones a la Redacción. En caso de disparidad de las opiniones de los árbitros se reserva la potestad de buscar una tercera opinión.

Responsabilidades principales de los editores:

• Actuar de manera equilibrada, objetiva y justa mientras cumple con sus deberes previstos, sin discriminación por motivos de género, orientación sexual, creencias religiosas o políticas, origen étnico o geográfico de los autores.
• Manejar presentaciones de suplementos patrocinados o temas especiales de la misma manera que otras presentaciones, de modo que los artículos se consideren y acepten únicamente por su mérito académico y sin influencia comercial.

Principales responsabilidades de los autores:

• Confirmar que el manuscrito tal como fue presentado no está siendo considerado o aceptado para publicación en otro lugar. Cuando partes del contenido se superponen con algún contenido publicado o enviado, reconocer y citar esas fuentes. Además, proporcionar al editor una copia de cualquier manuscrito enviado que pueda contener contenido superpuesto o estrechamente relacionado.
• Confirmar que todo el trabajo en el manuscrito enviado es original y reconocer y citar el contenido reproducido de otras fuentes. Obtener permiso para reproducir cualquier contenido de otras fuentes.
• Declarar cualquier conflicto de interés potencial (por ejemplo, cuando el autor tenga un interés en competencia (real o aparente) que pueda considerarse o que se considere que ejerce una influencia indebida en sus obligaciones en cualquier etapa del proceso de publicación).
• Notificar de inmediato al editor de la revista o al editor si se identifica un error significativo en su publicación. Cooperar con el editor y la editorial para publicar un erratum, addendum, corrigendum, o para retirar el documento, cuando se considere necesario.

Principales responsabilidades de los revisores:

• Contribuir al proceso de toma de decisiones y ayudar a mejorar la calidad del documento publicado mediante la revisión objetiva y manuscrita del manuscrito.
• Mantener la confidencialidad de cualquier información suministrada por el editor o autor. No retener o copiar el manuscrito.
• Alertar al editor de cualquier contenido publicado o enviado que sea sustancialmente similar al que se está revisando.
• Conocer cualquier posible conflicto de intereses (financiero, institucional, de colaboración o de otro tipo entre el revisor y el autor) y alertar al editor de estos, si es necesario, retirar sus servicios para ese manuscrito.

Cualquier mala conducta puede ser identificada y llevada a la atención del editor y editor en cualquier momento, por cualquier episodio.

La mala conducta y el comportamiento poco ético pueden incluir, pero no deben limitarse a, los ejemplos descritos anteriormente.

Quienquiera que informe al editor o editor de tal conducta debe proporcionar información y pruebas suficientes para que se inicie una investigación. Todas las acusaciones deben tomarse en serio y tratarse de la misma manera, hasta que se llegue a una decisión o conclusión exitosa.

La editorial debe tomar una decisión inicial, quien debe consultar o pedir consejo al editor, si corresponde.

Se debe reunir evidencia, mientras se evita la difusión de alegatos más allá de aquellos que necesitan saber.

La mala conducta menor puede ser tratada sin la necesidad de consultar más ampliamente. En cualquier caso, el autor debe tener la oportunidad de responder a cualquier alegato.

Una conducta indebida grave puede requerir que se notifique a los empleadores del acusado. El editor, en consulta con la editorial o la Sociedad, según corresponda, debe tomar la decisión de involucrar o no a los empleadores, ya sea mediante el examen de las pruebas disponibles o mediante una consulta adicional con un número limitado de expertos.

Notificar e informar o educar al autor o revisor cuando parezca haber un malentendido o una mala aplicación de los estándares aceptables.

Incluso una carta redactada al autor o revisor que cubre la conducta indebida y como una advertencia de comportamiento futuro, o hasta una publicación de un aviso formal que detalla la mala conducta o la publicación de una editorial que detalla la mala conducta.

Otras acciones podría ser tomadas, como:

- Una carta formal al jefe del departamento o agencia de financiamiento del autor o revisor.

- Retirada formal o retiro de una publicación de la revista, junto con un informe al jefe del departamento del autor o revisor, los repositorios de resumen e indexación y los lectores de la publicación.

- Imposición de un embargo formal a las contribuciones de un individuo por un período definido.

- Informar el caso y el resultado a una organización profesional o autoridad superior para una mayor investigación y acción.

Los artículos aceptados y publicados estarán disponibles para su adquisición en esta misma sección de la web de Herder Editorial, tanto individualmente (en formato epub) como con el resto del número publicado (en formato epub o impreso).

Al entregar su texto a la redacción de ARGUMENTA el autor cede automáticamente a Herder Editorial S.L., y renunciando a cualquier remuneración económica, los derechos de publicación de su artículo o reseña en el idioma en que lo hace en la revista a ARGUMENTA de forma exclusiva durante DOS años a partir de la fecha de su publicación. Por otro lado, ni Herder Editorial S.L. ni ARGUMENTA se hacen cargo de las opiniones manifestadas en los artículos y reseñas publicadas. Estas son de total responsabilidad de su autor/a.

ARGUMENTA PHILOSOPHICA (ISSN: 2462-4993; ISSN eletronic journal: 2462-5906) is an international scholarly journal dedicated to research in philosophy. Published twice a year, ARGUMENTA is a forum for members of the academic world.

The journal focuses on the classic disciplines of philosophy and its history, namely metaphysics, epistemology, logic, ethics, philosophy of science and mind, anthropology, philosophy of religion, aesthetics and philosophy of history. It also features important theoretical works from other disciplines in the humanities and related fields (e.g. psychology, sociology or anthropology). The journal accepts two types of original works: articles and reviews. Articles must be original and not published elsewhere, and written in Spanish or English. Reviews, by contrast, are only published in Spanish. Articles should not exceed 7,500 words (including footnotes and bibliography), and reviews should be no longer than 1,800 words.

In accordance with our solid commitment to maintain good business practices in regards to research and publishing, it is of utmost importance that he who is willing to present an article in order for it to be evaluated in ARGUMENTA downloads, completes, signs and forwards along with their article this declaration of originality and due citation of references. Without the submission of this document no process of evaluation will proceed.

In addition, the publishing house reserves the possibility of conducting any and all investigations and verifications that shall be considered necessary (plagiarism-detecting programmes, verification of the existence of publishing rights, etcetera) in order to guarantee the novelty of the manuscript as well as the existence of the required citation of references and reproduction licenses. Were any indications of lack of novelty or provision of data to be found, the article will be automatically discarded.

Proposals for articles and reviews should be sent via email to the Journal’s editorial department (argphil@herdereditorial.com) in a Word file. If you wish, submissions can be accompanied by the author’s curriculum vitae.

Proposals for articles should be accompanied by a brief summary of the article and five keywords, Both the summary and keywords should be written in Spanish and English for Spanish articles and written in English if the article itself will be written in English. The author’s personal details and academic information must be included at the end of the article. This information must include the author’s name and surname, the name of the institution and a current email address.

Original manuscripts shall be submited in a blind evaluation review process by two external experts appointed by the Editorial team. The Editorial team reserves the right to publish the work. The authors will be informed as to the acceptance, request for changes or rejection of their manuscripts within six months. 

Each referee will evaluate originality, academic rigour, methodology, bibliography and style of the manuscript, either recommending or rejecting publication or requesting changes. They will prepare a standard report detailing their evaluation of the manuscript which will then submitted for review by the Editorial team. In the event of disagreement between referees, it is reserved the right to seek out a third opinion.

Editors' main responsibilities

• To act in a balanced, objective and fair way while carrying out their expected duties, without discrimination on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors.
• To handle submissions for sponsored supplements or special issues in the same way as other submissions, so that articles are considered and accepted solely on their academic merit and without commercial influence.

Authors' main responsibilities

• To confirm/assert that the manuscript as submitted is not under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere. Where portions of the content overlap with published or submitted content, to acknowledge and cite those sources. Additionally, to provide the editor with a copy of any submitted manuscript that might contain overlapping or closely related content.
• To confirm that all the work in the submitted manuscript is original and to acknowledge and cite content reproduced from other sources. To obtain permission to reproduce any content from other sources.
• To declare any potential conflicts of interest (e.g. where the author has a competing interest (real or apparent) that could be considered or viewed as exerting an undue influence on his or her duties at any stage during the publication process).
• To notify promptly the journal editor or publisher if a significant error in their publication is identified. To cooperate with the editor and publisher to publish an erratum, addendum, corrigendum notice, or to retract the paper, where this is deemed necessary.

Reviewers' main responsibilities

• To contribute to the decision-making process, and to assist in improving the quality of the published paper by reviewing the manuscript objectively, in a timely manner.
• To maintain the confidentiality of any information supplied by the editor or author. To not retain or copy the manuscript.
• To alert the editor to any published or submitted content that is substantially similar to that under review.
• To be aware of any potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative or other relationships between the reviewer and author) and to alert the editor to these, if necessary withdrawing their services for that manuscript.

Misconduct and unethical behaviour may be identified and brought to the attention of the editor and publisher at any time, by anyone.

Misconduct and unethical behaviour may include, but need not be limited to, examples as outlined above.

Whoever informs the editor or publisher of such conduct should provide sufficient information and evidence in order for an investigation to be initiated. All allegations should be taken seriously and treated in the same way, until a successful decision or conclusion is reached.

An initial decision should be taken by the editor, who should consult with or seek advice from the publisher, if appropriate.

Evidence should be gathered, while avoiding spreading any allegations beyond those who need to know.

Minor misconduct might be dealt with without the need to consult more widely. In any event, the author should be given the opportunity to respond to any allegations.

Serious misconduct might require that the employers of the accused be notified. The editor, in consultation with the publisher or Society as appropriate, should make the decision whether or not to involve the employers, either by examining the available evidence themselves or by further consultation with a limited number of experts.

Notification and Informing or educating the author or reviewer where there appears to be a misunderstanding or misapplication of acceptable standards.

A more strongly worded letter to the author or reviewer covering the misconduct and as a warning to future behaviour, even a publication of a formal notice detailing the misconduct or publication of an editorial detailing the misconduct.

Another actions could be taken, as:

- A formal letter to the head of the author's or reviewer's department or funding agency.

- Formal retraction or withdrawal of a publication from the journal, in conjunction with informing the head of the author or reviewer's department, Abstracting & Indexing services and the readership of the publication.

- Imposition of a formal embargo on contributions from an individual for a defined period.

- Reporting the case and outcome to a professional organisation or higher authority for further investigation and action.

Accepted and published papers will be available for purchase in this same section of the Herder Editorial website, both individually (in epub format) and with the whole of the published issue (in epub or printed format).

When you submit your manuscript to ARGUMENTA, the author automatically grants Herder Editorial S.L. the right to publish the article or review in the language it was submitted to ARGUMENTA waiving any economic rights to the work. This assignment of rights is exclusive and has a validity of TWO years after the article publication date. On the other hand, neither Herder Editorial S.L. neither ARGUMENTA are responsible for the opinions expressed in the articles and reviews published. These are the sole responsibility of their author.
